Although our local casinos are reporting billions of dollars in winnings, and the Superbowl and NASCAR were a huge success, there are a number of disturbing trends that make the future look bleak for the rising generation here in Las Vegas, including loss of traditional moral values, disintegration of the family, low school achievement, lack of affordable housing, low paying jobs, and a higher-than-average violent crime rate. 

This is not the direction we want to take our children. This is not the legacy we want to leave our grandchildren. 

My goal as mayor is for us to work hard and work together to make Las Vegas an ideal city in which to live and raise our families by reversing these disturbing trends in a way that will promote stronger families, higher educational achievement, a better quality of life, and less crime. 

I believe that much of the positive change that needs to come to our city can only be realized when we, individually and as a people, strengthen our families by living traditional moral values such as honesty, hard work, kindness, responsibility and integrity. As mayor, I will encourage us to internalize these principles through a variety of means. As we work together to embrace these values, we will change. We will become stronger from the inside out. And with that newfound strength, we will be better family members, we will achieve more at school, crime will decrease, and we will be happier and more at peace.

Additionally, I will work cooperatively with a variety of organizations to find and implement solutions for the pressing public problems we face in the areas of education, housing, crime, and homelessness.
